Weave matters more than colour in a family room: a tighter weave takes daily use and pets better than a loose one.
Kiln-dried before it is cut
Timber dried first does not move as it gives up moisture. In Chennai humidity that is the difference between joints that stay tight and joints that creak by year three.
Density matched to how you sit
Density decides how long a cushion holds its shape, not how soft it feels on the day. We say plainly where a cheaper grade will flatten early.
Webbing and springs, serviceable
The layer under the cushion is what carries you. Because it is serviceable, a seat that sags in a decade is re-stretched rather than scrapped.
Chennai is hard on furniture in a way a catalogue never mentions. Timber that was not dried before it was cut keeps moving through a wet month; a deep natural pile holds damp against the foam long after the air has cleared. It is why the frame is kiln-dried before anything is built on it, and why we will steer a coastal home or a room that stays shut all day towards a tighter weave — then tell you to leave the sofa a hand’s width off the wall so air can get behind it.
Re-foam, re-web and re-upholster are all jobs we do on sofas we did not build, so these same four layers are what we inspect when you ask us to repair one.

Typically 2–4 weeks for a fabric sofa. The exact date depends on the design, fabric availability and current workload, so we confirm it when you enquire rather than leaving you to guess.
We build in Nerkundram and deliver across Chennai — including Nerkundram, Virugambakkam, Porur, Valasaravakkam, Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar, Mogappair, Ambattur, Anna Nagar, T Nagar, Guindy, Velachery, OMR and Tambaram — and to customers elsewhere in Tamil Nadu. Delivery is planned around staircase, lift and doorway access before the build is finished, so the sofa reaches the room in one piece.
20+ weaves and finishes across the usual families — velvet, chenille, bouclé, tight-weave cottons, premium blends and leatherette. You compare the samples in hand before anything is cut, and we bring them to your home so you see them in your own light rather than under workshop lights.
Tight weaves and synthetic blends recover fastest from damp air, and they are what we usually suggest for homes near the coast or for a room that stays shut through the day. Deep-pile velvets and heavy naturals feel wonderful but hold moisture longer, so they suit air-conditioned rooms better. Whatever the fabric, a sofa that is pulled a little off the wall and gets some air behind it will outlast one pressed flat against damp plaster.
Yes — repair, remodeling, fabric replacement and cushion replacement, on sofas we did not build as readily as our own. The usual signs are a seat that sinks and does not spring back, a creak or knock when you sit down, arms that move when you lean on them, and foam that has flattened into a dip. Sagging and creaking are normally the webbing or springs under the seat, which is a repair. Movement at the arms or a frame cracked at a joint is the one worth asking about early — if the frame is sound, re-webbing and new foam cost far less than a new sofa and last years. If the frame has gone, rebuilding it is money spent on the wrong part, and we will tell you that rather than take the job.
Yes, and the two cover different things. A new sofa carries a 2 year warranty on the frame and our workmanship. When we repair or rebuild a frame for you, the frame work we did is covered for 5 years — a narrower promise than the new-sofa warranty rather than a longer one, because it applies only to that structural work and not to a whole sofa. Everyday fabric wear, foam softening and accidental damage sit outside both, as they do everywhere. If something is not right, the people who built the sofa are the ones who come and look at it.
Size, fabric grade, foam density and the frame are priced separately, so the same design can be built to different budgets. Because every sofa is made to measure, we quote on the actual specification rather than publishing a list price — tell us your budget with your measurements and we will say what it buys.
